Borussia Dortmund announces preliminary results for the financial year 2007/2008

In the financial year 2007/2008 (01.07.2007 - 30.06.2008) Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA recorded earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) in an amount of EUR 6.3 Mio. (EUR 15.8 previous year). Net income amounted EUR 1.1 Mio. (EUR 10.3 Mio. previous year). Especially due to the prolongation of the marketing cooperation with SPORTFIVE, which was agreed on in June 2008 (see: ad-hoc-news dated June 12th, 2008), the operating cash flow increased from EUR 11.9 Mio by EUR 42.4 Mio. to EUR 54.3 Mio. compared to the previous year.

Revenues of Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA increased from EUR 90.9 Mio. (previous year) by EUR 9.0 Mio. (9.9%) to EUR 99.9 Mio in the financial year 2007/2008. These revenues spread as follows: Ticketing: EUR 22.6 Mio. (previous year EUR 18.3 Mio.); TV-Rights: EUR 26.0 Mio. (previous year EUR 21.3 Mio.); Sponsoring: EUR 33.8 Mio. (previous year EUR 30.5 Mio.); Transfers: EUR 5.4 Mio. (previous year EUR 6.8 Mio.); Catering, Merchandising etc. EUR 12.1 Mio. (previous year EUR 14.1 Mio.). The increase of the revenues resulted mainly from the successful participation of Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-CUP-Competition.

Total operating performance improved from EUR 99.7 Mio (previous year) by EUR 8.9 Mio to EUR 108.6 Mio.

Personnel expenses of the company increased from EUR 34.3 Mio. by EUR 8.2 Mio. to EUR 42.5 Mio. This was mainly caused by personnel improvement of the team and bonus payments to the team und coaching staff due to the successful participation in the DFB-CUP-Competition and the qualification for the UEFA-CUP-Competition.

Depreciations increased as well due to the higher investments in the team from EUR 6.9 Mio. by EUR 1.7 Mio. to EUR 8.6.

Compared to the previous year other operating expenses increased from EUR 42.7 Mio. by EUR 8.5 Mio. to EUR 51.2 Mio. The main contributory factors were expenses amounting EUR 6.4 Mio. directly related to the successful participation in the DFB-CUP-Competition.

The financial result improved from EUR -5.5 Mio. by EUR 0.4 Mio to EUR -5.1 Mio.

Group earnings before taxes and interests (EBIT) amounted - according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) - EUR 5.4 Mio (previous year EUR 15.6 Mio.)

Group financial result degraded from EUR -8.5 Mio. by EUR 1.6 Mio to EUR -10.1 Mio. Background is the dissolution of commission payments - paid and deferred in the previous years - as a consequence of the complete discharge of the Morgan Stanley loan in June 2008 (EUR 1.9 Mio.).

Group total net income amounted EUR -3.9 Mio. (EUR 10.1 Mio. previous year).The deviation compared to the net income of the individual financial statement of Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA (EUR 1.1 Mio.) almost exclusively results from accounting and valuation variance due to IFRS which however did not have an impact on liquidity. The main contributory factors were increased depreciations in the Group concerning the stadium (EUR 3.4 Mio.), the dissolution of the afore mentioned deferred commission payments (net of tax EUR 1.2 Mio.) and increased expenses as a result of a qualification of a contract as finance lease (EUR 0.4 Mio.).

The earnings per share amounted EUR -0.07 (EUR 0.17 previous year).

Group revenues increased from EUR 97.1 Mio. by EUR 10.5 Mio. to EUR 107.6 Mio and the total group operating performance increased from EUR 106.0 Mio. by EUR 10.3 Mio. to EUR 116.3 Mio.

Group net debt (debt less liquid funds) decreased from EUR 115.0 Mio. by EUR 54.1 Mio. to EUR 60.9 Mio.
