1981 to 1984 Degree in Public Administration (Diplom-Verwaltungswirt), Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences, Cologne

1984 to Mai 2005 German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), most recently in the capacity of Detective Chief Superintendent
Since 1999 Joins CDU; initially worked in local politics before also becoming active at the state level. Since being elected to the Landtag in May 2005, he has been on leave without pay from the BKA. He retired in August 2020.
